Richard H. Colwell, 92, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017.

He was the husband of Heidi A. (Schlaepfer) Colwell.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Earl and Jennie (Ford) Colwell. Mr. Colwell was the owner and operator of RH Colwell Inc. for many years before retiring.
Mr. Colwell was a World War II Veteran who served in England. He was a lifetime volunteer in the town of Foster, he spent many hours helping out designing and building the South Foster Fire Station. He was a past member of the Foster Town Council and the Foster Preservation Society. He also was the past chairman of Foster Republican Town Committee, chair person of the 1st adopted Foster Charter Commission, life member of Ionic Lodge, Green RI and past President of South Foster Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of or the Foster Old Home Days Committee and the planning and building of the Swamp Meadow Bridge.
Besides his wife he leaves three daughters, Priscilla Lundblad of Colorado, Rebecca Ouellette of Cranston, and Kathryn (Bea) McCullough of CT, three sons, Alan Cornwall of MA, Jon Colwell of Glocester and Gordon Brayton of Foster, 12 grandchildren, Jay and Shawn Lundblad, Abigail Smith, Scott, Nathaniel, and Brittany Colwell, Sarah Martel, Thomas Ouellette, Jessica Grossi, Benjamin and Jennifer Brayton, and Laila McCullough, 14 great grandchildren with one on the way (due in August), one sister, Nancy Cornwell of Warwick. He was the brother of the late Jane Kuhn,Bruce Colwell, and Patricia Knight.

A memorial service was held at the South Foster Fire Station on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 11:00 a.m.
